Urban Turbans' very own Diane Dudley took away a runner-up spot
at Te Rapa in a sparkling purple suit of her own design, accompanied
by a matching military 1940s-style cocktail hat.

Wellington Designer Ellen Mann took away the Wellington Cup Supreme
Award with a plum-coloured wool boucle jacket with red velvet and
teal lace scallop trim, accompanied by a teal skirt featuring double
tier pleated hemline and draped bustle at back. The matching Moulin
Rouge-style top hat was trimmed with matching lace and feathers,
and was constructed of the same fabric as the jacket.

Auckland Fashion Designer Elena Andreeva constructed a striking
purple suit which she modelled herself on Boxing Day. The accompanying
hat, a classical brimmed hat a sharp, modern crown angle, with was
designed by Elena, and constructed by Urban Turbans from her concept
sketches and materials.

For the second year running, Urban Turbans designed and constructed
the hat judged supreme winner on Ladies Day, during the Ellerslie
Easter Carnival 2001. To top it off, not only was this Urban Turbans
second win in this competition, the winner was the same customer
as last year, Jillian Dudley! Jillian wore a golden oversized cocktail
with a very high rear spray of sculpted feathers and veiling. Jillian's
outfit was from Solo Design.

The hat worn by Donna Tercel, supreme winner of
the Wellington Cup Fashion
in the Field, was designed and constructed by Urban Turbans. The
hat was a wide-brimmed blue creation, with navy and bright yellow
loops encircling the crown and touching the brim like the rings
of Saturn. The hat accompanied a blue designer dress with a stylish
oriental print, made by Carla Kerstine of Auckland.

The hat worn by Rebecca Edwards was jointly designed
and constructed by Urban Turbans and Liza Foreman of Liza Foreman
Millinery.
This hat was constructed during the Heads and
Tails promotion at Kirkaldie and Stains Department Store, Wellington.
During Heads and Tails, customers can come into the store, choose
a bare hat and decorations, and have the hat trimmed by an expert
milliner while they wait. Urban Turbans is a proud participant of
Heads and Tails, which this year was held a fortnight prior to the
Wellington Cup.

Urban Turbans provided the hat worn by Jillian Dudley, Supreme
Award winner at the Ellerslie Fashion In The Field. The hat had
a wide oval brim, made from black fabric shot with gold, with a
dramatic fan of pheasant tail-feathers from the front of the crown.
The hat was worn with a true gold fern-print jacket and skirt combination,
with matching gold accessories.
